Scheffer: Bulgaria has a good dossier in NATO
The General secretary of NATO Jaap de Hoop Scheffer stated, that the Alliance is tired of accepting new members.
According to him, the door for futher broadening of the Alliance is not closed, but the countries that want to become members will have to follow strict criteria and many orders.
“We hope that at the high level meeting in France and Germany, we wil welcome the joining of Albania and Croatia”, revealed Scheffer, cited by the Bulgarian National Radio.
This year NATO celebrates the 60th anniversary of it’s foundation. Bulgaria marks the 5th year of their joining to the Alliance.
“We now see this alliance broadened, and countries that want to be a part of the family. If we look at the countries in the Western Balkans, after Albania and Croatia – we definitely see others that will at a certain stage join the NATO family,” said the General Secretary of NATO.
