The ambassador in France Irina Bokova – UNESCO Director General candidate

Nine candidates will compete on September 17th to take the position of Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the next four years.
The main competitors of the current favorite for the position, the minister of culture of Egypt Farukh Hosni, are four ladies – the EU commissar of foreign politics Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the ambassador of Lithuania in UNESCO Ina Marciulionyte, the Bulgarian ambassador in France Irina Bokova and the ex-ambassador of Ecuador in the US Ivon Baki.
The countries in the European Union will dedicate September 15th and 16th on the decision of their preference for the new director of UNESCO.
