Sofia sends new positive signals to Macedonia

The Macedonian television “Channel 5” noted the statement of the director of the National agency for Bulgarians abroad Raina Mandjukova, who said that Sofia supports the European future of Macedonia. Raina Mandjukova visited the grave of the controversial Todor Alexandrov in Novo Selo on the 85th anniversary of his death.

“The name of Todor Alexandrov doesn’t unite Bulgaria and Macedonia today, but that’s part of the past. There are other common things between us ahead – our big family in the European Union, which will be the benefit of all of us”, said Mandjukova.

This is the second visit of a high-ranking Bulgarian official in Macedonia over the last few days. The visits followed the sharper comments exchanged between Sofia and Skopje because of the imprisoned Bulgarian citizen in Idrizovo, and the threats that Bulgaria can block the joining of Macedonia in NATO and the EU.
